Always be self-aware to cure breast cancer

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an event to support and encourage those living with breast cancer and raise awareness about prevention and early detection. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed in women. The month of October is a reminder to support those in their fight against breast cancer, celebrate the survivors, honor those who have been taken too soon, and never give up hope. The pink ribbon is an international symbol of breast cancer. Wearing a pink ribbon or a pink outfit is a simple way to express moral support for those diagnosed with breast cancer.

8 Symptoms of Breast Cancer - Pain In Your Breast

Different people have different symptoms of breast cancer. Some people do not have any signs or symptoms at all. We have write about some of them in this

  • New lump in the breast or underarm (armpit).
  • Thickening or swelling of part of the breast.
  • Irritation or dimpling of breast skin.
  • Redness or flaky skin in the nipple area or the breast.
  • Pulling in the nipple or pain in the nipple area.
  • Nipple discharge other than breast milk, including blood.
  • Any change in the size or shape of the breast.
  • Pain in any area of the breast.

Remember that these symptoms can happen with other conditions that are not cancer.
If you have any signs or symptoms that worry you, be sure to see your doctor immediately.

Self Examination

Breast self-exam, or regularly examining your breasts on your own, can be an important way to find breast cancer early when it's more likely to be treated successfully. While no single test can detect all breast cancers early, Babystore.ae believes that performing breast self-exams in combination with other screening methods can increase the odds of early detection.
Babystore.ae still believes breast self-examination is a useful and essential screening tool, especially when combined with a doctor's regular physical exams, mammography, and in some cases, ultrasound or MRI. Each of these screening tools works differently and has strengths and weaknesses. Breast self-exam is a convenient, no-cost tool that you can use regularly and at any age. We recommend that all women routinely perform breast self-exams as part of their overall breast cancer screening strategy.

How to do a breast self-exam: The five steps

Step 1

Begin by looking at your breasts in the mirror with your shoulders straight and your arms on your hips.
Here's what you should look for:

  • Breasts that are their usual size, shape, and color.
  • Breasts that are evenly shaped without visible distortion or swelling.

If you see any of the following changes, bring them to your doctor's attention:

  • Dimpling or swelling of the skin.
  • A nipple that has changed position or an inverted nipple.
  • Redness, soreness, rash, or swelling.
Step 2

Now, raise your arms and look for the same changes.

Step 3

While in the mirror, look for any signs of fluid coming out of one or both nipples (this could be a watery, milky, yellow fluid, or blood).

Step 4

Next, feel your breasts while lying down, using your right hand to feel your left breast and then your left hand to feel your right breast. Use a firm, smooth touch with your hand's first few finger pads, keeping the fingers flat and together. Use a circular motion about the size of a quarter.

Step 5

Finally, feel your breasts while you are standing or sitting. Many women find that the easiest way to feel their breasts is when their skin is wet and slippery, so they like to do this step in the shower. Cover your entire breast using the same hand movements described in step 4.
