This gate works well to keep our toddler out of the kitchen. My only complaint is the lock feature can be hard for adults to work. If you are carrying anything (like laundry or food) it is hard to open the gate while holding it. This is a tension gate so I would not install at the top of stairs for fear of it coming loose and a child falling down the steps. It seems very sturdy when installed, but I’d rather be safe.
